Privacy policy
Idavoll, at idavoll.app, is made by Sikchi TechTonic Private Limited, a company registered in India. This page says what we keep about you, why, who can see it, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
- Your first name and the city you choose.
- Your profile: the lines you write, your interests and the photos you add.
- What you post in City Hall: questions, answers and reactions.
- The Events and Hangouts you create, and the Hangouts you join.
- The messages you send in chats.
- The people you block and the reports you send.
- Whether you have Plus, and how you got it.
- A push subscription, if you turn notifications on.
- Technical logs, such as IP addresses and timestamps, kept briefly for security.
You sign in with Google; Apple will follow. We keep the identifier Google gives us for your account and nothing else from it. We never see or store a password, and we do not link accounts by email address.
Why
To run Idavoll: to show your name and what you write to people in your city, to put you in Events and Hangouts, to deliver your chats, to keep your Plus right, to send the notifications you asked for, and to keep the place safe.
That is all. We do not sell personal data, and there is no advertising.
Automated checks
Anything written for others to find is checked once in the background: questions, answers, Events, photos, profile text, and the titles and places of Hangouts. The check is automated and uses a third-party AI provider, OpenAI. What the check is unsure about is looked at by a person at Idavoll.
Chats are never sent to any AI provider, and nobody at Idavoll reads them. A report from you is the only way a chat reaches staff, and then only the messages the report carries.
Who can see what
- People in your city see your first name and what you write in City Hall.
- Your photos are checked before anyone but you sees any version of them. What someone then sees depends on their access to you: an initial if you have no checked photo, a blurred version of your first photo if they are a stranger, and the clear photo once you are connected or in a Hangout together and they have a checked photo of their own.
- Who reacted to something you wrote is shown to you, and on a person's history page, which only Plus members can open. Karma is shown only to its owner.
- Chats are seen only by the people in them.
- Staff see reports, content the checks hold, and what you send us from Help.
Where it is kept
On servers in Singapore, run by Hetzner. Encrypted backups are kept off the server and expire within 30 days. Google Identity Services handles sign-in. Cloudflare provides our DNS and routes our email. Content sent for an automated check goes to OpenAI.
How long
For as long as you have an account. Technical logs are kept briefly. When you delete your account, your account and personal data are erased at once; copies in backups expire within 30 days. Other members keep their own messages in the chats you shared.
Your choices
- Delete your account from Settings, or at idavoll.app/account-deletion.
- Edit or delete anything you wrote or added.
- Block anyone. Blocking is silent and mutual: you stop seeing each other, and they are not told. Undo it in Settings.
- Report anyone. A report sends the content to staff.
- Turn push notifications on or off in Settings.
Children
Idavoll is for adults. You must be 18 or over, and you confirm it when you sign up. Do not use Idavoll if you are under 18.
Changes
We may change this policy. The date at the foot of this page says when it last changed.
